Jim started it all. A lifelong Chattanoogan, Jim graduated from Red Bank High School in 1980. After 10 years of insuring churches across thirteen counties in southeast Tennessee for Church Mutual Insurance Company, he decided to branch out on his own in 2003. River City Insurance started humbly out of the family home he grew up in on his parents’ farm in Red Bank. He raised his family in that farmhouse, his parents still live on the same land, and now his daughter is raising her family there. River City Insurance has since grown into a full-service agency with more than 1,500 clients. He’s licensed in life, property, casualty and excess lines in Tennessee and Georgia, and loves knowing that every deal the agency does is a win-win – good for the business and helps its customers.
Jim serves on the board of the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce’s Red Bank Council and is a Business Network International member, Signal Mountain Lions Club member and an ordained Baptist minister who spent a good chunk of his thirties building a church in Flintstone, Ga. When he’s not at the office, he enjoys drawing, hiking, rock climbing and spending time with his two dogs. You can often catch him surfing on Chickamauga Lake on the weekends with Johanna, his wife of 35 years, and three adult children. Sailing around Cape Horn is on his bucket list, and his life motto is, “Work hard, spend less than you make, and enjoy the trip, because it’s short."
