River City Insurance
Jim started it all. A lifelong Chattanoogan, Jim graduated from Red Bank High School in 1980. After 10 years of insuring churches across thirteen counties in southeast Tennessee for Church Mutual Insurance Company, he decided to branch out on his own in 2003. River City Insurance started humbly out of the family home he grew up in on his parents’ farm in Red Bank. He raised his family in that farmhouse, his parents still live on the same land, and now his daughter is raising her family there. River City Insurance has since grown into a full-service agency with more than 1,500 clients. He’s licensed in life, property, casualty and excess lines in Tennessee and Georgia, and loves knowing that every deal the agency does is a win-win – good for the business and helps its customers.
Jim serves on the board of the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce’s Red Bank Council and is a Business Network International member, Signal Mountain Lions Club member and an ordained Baptist minister who spent a good chunk of his thirties building a church in Flintstone, Ga. When he’s not at the office, he enjoys drawing, hiking, rock climbing and spending time with his two dogs. You can often catch him surfing on Chickamauga Lake on the weekends with Johanna, his wife of 35 years, and three adult children. Sailing around Cape Horn is on his bucket list, and his life motto is, “Work hard, spend less than you make, and enjoy the trip, because it’s short."
Commercial Lines Agent
Sherry keeps it all together. She’s River City Insurance’s office manager and commercial lines agent, focused on business insurance and bonds. She’s a licensed property and casualty agent in Tennessee and is pursuing her Certified Insurance Counselor and Commercial Lines Coverage Specialist designations. Sherry grew up in the Sequatchie Valley in Marion County, Tenn. and became a certified lab technician at Chattanooga State Community College before switching to insurance in 1998. She’s gained experience in a variety of roles across the industry, ranging from benefits specialist, underwriter, personal lines manager, senior commercial specialist to director of production. She enjoys educating the agency and building relationships within the community. Outside of work, she spends time with her three daughters, reads, trail walks with her five-year-old puggle, Maggie, and is a vegan passionate about educating others on the environment impact of the food industry.
Licensed P&C Agent
You may recognize Sarah’s voice from when you call River City Insurance. As the office customer service representative and a newly licensed P&C Agent, she assists customers and her coworkers with whatever is needed day in and day out. The Jasper, Tenn. native is a licensed property and casualty agent and thinks of River City as her happy place. She’s previously held customer service positions at McDonalds, Dairy Queen, Pet Care Warehouse and Cracker Barrel. In her free time, she likes to listen to books on tape, spend time with her fiancé and dogs, and play video games. She’s a frequent blood donor and animal shelter volunteer, plays the piccolo and wants to audition for The Voice one day.
